A couple nights ago, after 45 minutes of crying, I got her out of her crib and not so gently plopped her on Ava's bed. She laid there and stopped crying. I asked he if she wanted to sleep in Ava's bed, and she said yes. So I covered her up, put a pillow on the edge and walked out. Not one more peep...
Today we took out the crib and put in the toddler bed. I am excited and afraid. When we did the switch with Ava it was easy. We told her she had to stay in her bed and she did. Ava is our rule abiding child, she never gets out of her bed. However Scarlett is our rule breaking child so I am guessing it will not go as smoothly. I expect her to get out of bed about 30 times and appear in our room hourly through out the night. I plan to stand firm and walk her back in each and every time.
I hope this is the answer to the sleepless nights. It could go either way.

ReplyDeleteFYI, the 1st night she came out of her bed a total of 18 times between 1:30am - 3:00am
ReplyDeleteBut 2nd night, didn't come out at all (-:
We didn't do toddler beds, and our kiddos stayed in their cribs a long time. I am a sleep slut..I need it, craze it, have to have it. So I don't like people (big or small and cute) messing with it!! You are probably wondering who this crazy lady is...I found you via FTLOB. Glad I did...I've been reading through your posts- I'm sorry your baby girl has burn scars. My son was burned by a motorcycle, but he didn't need surgery. Congrats on baby #3 ( i have 4 boys). And yay for new boobs!! I nursed all 4 boys and the WRECKED my boobs!!! Hubby said he'd get me new ones when he gets home from war..here's to hoping!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! It sounds like she is ready! My youngest was like that. She saw her big sis in her Big Girl bed and wanted out of her crib (they are only 15 months apart).
ReplyDeleteHope she stays in the bed! That's always the tricky part! I used a gate at their bedroom door as a precaution - so if they got out of bed, they still wouldn't be able to go anywhere but they honestly never did it!
I'm not sure if it was because they knew it would be useless with the gate there or bc they just listened. I was afraid tof ind out so the gate remained until not too long ago (they are 5 and almost 4)!
Keeping my fingers crossed for a good night in your house tonight!

Oh wow... I feel your pain. My oldest went into a big boy bed without much issue. I am scared to death to switch over my youngest, but it's time. Good luck- I'll be following you on your sleepless journey!
